Lesley Regan

Professor Lesley Regan is based at the St. Mary’s Campus of Imperial College London and adorns the positions of Head, Section of Obstetrics and Gynaecology since 2006 and the Deputy Head, Department of Surgery and Cancer, Faculty of Medicine since 2009.

Prof Regan was conferred the Honorary Doctorate of Science by the University College London, Honorary Fellowship of the American, Sri Lankan & Indian Colleges of O & G and Honorary Membership of British Fertility Society. She is an Elected international member to the US National Academy of Medicine & an Invited member to their Committee Human Rights.

Professor Regan chaired the FIGO Women’s Health & Human Rights Committee from 2009-15 & was the Vice President for Strategic Development, RCOG, 2014-16. In 2016, She was Elected as the 30th President of the RCOG and the first woman to be elected to this role in 64 years. In 2018, she was elected Secretary General of FIGO.

A job close to her heart is being the Director of the RCOG Leading Safe Choices programme, an Anonymous US donor funded initiative to improve and promote family planning in Tanzania and South Africa.

Prof Regan’s primary research interests include Miscarriage and Fibroids. The recurrent miscarriage clinic at St Mary’s is the largest tertiary referral service in the world. Her collaborative clinical research with interventional radiologists led to the development of minimally invasive thermoablation techniques for treatment of uterine fibroids, now popularly known as HIFU.

Professor Regan is a popular invited speaker nationally and internationally and has delivered 32 keynote plenary and eponymous lectures. She has to her credit 153 original research papers, 6 peer reviewed guidelines, 4 systematic reviews, 30 invited reviews, 48 chapters in books and has been on the editorial team of several journals and publications.
JOHN J SCIARRA

John J. Sciarra, M.D., Ph.D. is the Watkins Professor and Chairman Emeritus of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University. From 1974 to 2003 he served as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at both Northwestern University and the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. From 1991 to 1994, Dr. Sciarra was president of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO), an association representing societies of Obstetrics and Gynecology in over 130 member countries. From 1985 to 2007, Dr. Sciarra was the editor of the International Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics and is now Editor Emeritus. Dr. Sciarra was the Editor-in-Chief of the six volume series, Gynecology and Obstetrics, that has been transformed into an internet-based publication entitled The Global Library of Women’s Medicine (GLOWM) that was launched in the fall of 2008 and now is the FIGO educational portal that provides educational information for physicians in over 170 countries. Dr. Sciarra has written more than 200 scientific publications, and authored or edited 16 books in the areas of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Family Planning, and Contraceptive Development. He has served as president of many national and international organizations, including the American Gynecologic Club and the International Society for Gynecologic Endoscopy. Dr. Sciarra has received many awards and honorary memberships, included being admitted to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (London) as a fellow ad eundem in 1992 and in 2006 he was made a guest professor at Peking University (China). He was recently awarded the annual COGA Award of the Chinese Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is the Vice-President of the International Academy of Human Reproduction.
SABARATNAM ARULKUMARAN

He has been the Professor Emeritus of O&G at St George’s, University of London. He is the Visiting Professor – Institute of Global Health Innovation, Imperial College, London and Foundation Professor of O&G, University of Nicosia.

Prof Arulkumaran has authored 300 indexed publications. He has been the author or editor of 38 books & more than 150 book chapters. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the ‘Best Practise and Research in Clinical Obstetrics and Gynaecology’. He is also the Emeritus Editor of the Global Library of Women’s Medicine www.glowm.com.

Prof Arulkumaran has been the President of the RCOG, London between 2007-2010; President of the British Medical Association between 2013-14 and President FIGO 2012-2015.

Prof Arulkumaran has been honoured with Doctorate of Science of several Universities and Honorary Fellow of many Post Graduate O&G Colleges and Societies including Honorary Member, National Academy of Sciences, USA. He was conferred Knight Bachelor in recognition of his services to Medicine & Health Services by Her Majesty the Queen - Birthday Honours List – June 2009
Ravi Chandran

Ravi Chandran conferred the degrees of MRCOG in the year 1988, Masters O & G in 1989, FRCPI 1998, FRCOG in 2001 and FICOG (Hon) in 2019. He has been Malaysian RC, RCOG from 1995 to 1998, Past President Perinatal Society Malaysia from 1997 to 1998, Past President O&G Society Malaysia from 2005 to 2006. He is the Present President of AOFOG and holding the position since 2017.
Abdul H Sultan

Abdul Sultan is a Consultant Obstetrician and UroGynaecologist with a special interest in Pelvic Floor and Anal Sphincter Dysfunction at Croydon University Hospital, London and is a Honorary Reader at St George’s University of London. He completed his postgraduate training at St George’s Hospital with Professor Stuart Stanton. His research at St Mark’s and the Homerton Hospital involved studying the effects of childbirth on the anal sphincters. This led to a landmark paper published in the New England Journal of Medicine and to a Doctorate. His pioneering work highlighted the deficiencies in training of doctors and midwives in detecting and repairing obstetric injuries to the anal sphincter.

He is the co-director of a tertiary referral urogynaecology Unit at Croydon University Hospital with subspecialty training and has an active research programme. He has over 200 publications in journals and textbook chapters. He has co-produced the first comprehensive textbook on perineal and anal sphincter trauma and is the co director of the popular Perineal Trauma and Pelvic Floor Ultrasound courses.

He was awarded the prestigious overall “UK Hospital Doctor of the Year” award and is the past President of the Section of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the Royal Society of Medicine.
SUCHITRA N PANDIT

Prof. Dr. Suchitra N. Pandit is currently Director & Senior consultant, Obstetrics & Gynaecology at The Surya Group of Hospitals, Mumbai. She is also Chair of the All India Coordinating Committee for RCOG, President of ISOPARB and Organsiation Gestosis (India chapter).

She has had a meritorious academic and clinical career spanning 34 years. Her areas of special interest comprise Management of High Risk Pregnancy, Adolescent & Menopausal problems, Infertility & related Endoscopy, Non descent vaginal hysterectomy in bulky uteri and pelvic floor repair. She has been invited for over 1000 guest lectures & 35 orations in India & abroad. She has over 110 publications and has edited five books. She has received several awards including the SIDA Fellowship, FOGSI awards, prestigious Maharashtra State medical council award in 2016 & FIGO women’s award in 2018 at Brazil.

She has served Mumbai Society of OBGYN & Federation of Obstetric & Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) in various capacities and was the President of both the organisations. She was the secretary of the “FOGSI Kishori Adolescent empowerment Project”, a multi collaborative project for the underprivileged girls from Dharavi, Mumbai for 8 years.
Zarko Alfirevic

Zarko Alfirevic is a Professor of Fetal and Maternal Medicine, Head of Department of Women’s and Children’s Health and Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor (Clinical) at the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at the University of Liverpool. He is also the Director of Fetal Medicine Unit and Harris Wellbeing Preterm Birth Research Centre at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, one of the largest stand-alone maternity hospitals in Europe with more than 8,000 births per annum. His main research interests are evidence based medicine and clinical trials in high risk obstetrics. He had chaired the RCOG Academic Board between 2014 and 2017 and received RCOG Annual Academic Prize in 2018. He is the Co-ordinating Editor of the Cochrane Pregnancy and Childbirth Group, has over 290 publications listed in PubMed and speaks regularly at the international meetings world-wide on topics related to preterm birth, fetal growth restriction, induction of labour and evidence based medicine.
Nandita Palshetkar

Dr Nandita Palshetkar MD FCPS FICOG,is an IVF consultant with clinical experience of more than 25 years with an additional special interest in high risk obstetrics. She is the director of Bloom IVF Centres, India. She is the President of the Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Societies (FOGSI) 2019-2020. She has held important leadership roles like President Mumbai Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society (MOGS) 2016-17 and President Indian Association of Gynaecological Endoscopy(IAGE) 2017-18. She is a pioneer in infertility being the first to bring innovative technology to India. She is an well known academician and a recognised teacher for Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine. She has several significant publications in reputed national and international journals. She has delivered more than 700 talks and 40 orations at national and international conferences. She is immensely passionate in uplifting women health in India and has instituted greatly beneficial health initiatives like the She’s Ambassador and the We for Stree Abhiyans for the growth and empowerment of the women of India. She has been awarded numerous prestigious awards for her professional excellence and social commitment.
